New Year, New Opportunities!

I always like hearing what new laws come into effect with the New Year. For instance, this year, chickens in California get to live much better-A state law that took effect Thursday requires egg laying hens have enough space to fully extend their limbs.

And In New York, taking selfies with tigers is banned by a new state law. So much for New Yorker’s dating profiles!!

And back home, here in Cali, the state has named an officially declared state amphibian: the red-legged frog. (If you purchased a home in Elk Grove, then you already know that little critter was already protected).

On the real estate side of opportunity, we have recently seen a 3% down Conventional loan product introduced, and coupled with CHDAP Downpayment assistance, a buyer could virtually have a 99% financed loan! Very exciting. That keeps sales chugging along.

The market was slower over December, but as typically happens, more buyers and sellers enter the market as January ages. Despite the small slow down, we still saw plenty of homes going into contract at full price. Sac/Placer/Eldo County areas should see continued and steady value growth, along with on market time coming down a little bit.
